Sundays are for celebrating your sobriety

Sundays are for celebrating your sobriety!

Is there a better feeling than making it to Sunday, clean and sober? Waking up hangover free, feeling proud as can be? To me, Sundays are for celebrating your sobriety.

Last Sunday, I’d dragged myself home at 11 am (I know, right?) then struggled to sleep thanks to the many toxins zooming around my bloodstream. As time went by, a soul-crushing hangover had me being violently sick and shaking with anxiety. Jeeze. It was rough. As I lay in bed wishing for the day to end, I couldn’t help but think how I’d believed this part of my life was over. During my 100 days of sobriety, I couldn’t imagine going back to such toxic behaviour, yet there I was yet again.

This Sunday, well, this Sunday has been AWESOME! I’m feeling super proud for being back on track with another sober weekend under my belt. I’ve celebrated today with:

  • Yoga
  • A run
  • Knitting
  • Coffee
  • Crispy M&Ms
  • Lucifer (Tom Ellis is too beautiful)
  • Cuddles with my doggo
  • Writing
  • Lots of smiling
  • Washing my dressing gown so it’s super soft and fresh for tonight

All that and it’s only mid-afternoon! I have much more planned including a project I’m working on for a friend, my sewing project, a walk with Huckleberry and some quiet reading time. Lovely.

The difference between party-Paige and sober-Paige has blown me away more than once since I started this sober journey in January. It never ceases to amaze me how much the simple (but extraordinarily difficult) act of removing alcohol can have so many wonderful benefits. Life is truly brighter without it.

If you too stayed sober this weekend, I hope you know you are absolutely bloody amazing. This journey is not easy but as I’ve said before, it’s worth it. (Now I just need to remember that.) Sundays are for celebrating your sobriety – own it!

If you didn’t stay sober this weekend, that’s okay. DON’T GIVE UP! It’s okay to veer off the path, fall and feel lost but there is hope. There is always hope. Give yourself time to reset, refocus, get back up and give this another try. It’s never too late and you are not alone.

P.s I updated the Life Beyond Hedonism logo again! What can I say? I’m a sucker for transformations! Please let me know what you think 😊

  1. I think Sundays are the day that really demonstrates the difference between a sober life and a drinking life. The day now seems to hold more promise and is a day to be enjoyed and not survived. Good for you for sticking with it. You are stronger than you think and braver than you believe xxx
